Today I’m going to share my cautionary tale about the old boyfriend…jeans. You see, I was really excited when I was reunited with my Gap boyfriend jeans circa 2004ish. They were worn, baggy and oh so comfortable. I had just pulled them out thinking, fantastic! I can wear these for the next Fashion Informant. I was so happy to have the old boyfriend jeans back in my life, how smart was I for saving them all of these years. Once I reunited with the boyfriend, I decided to dress the part for all of the home improvement projects we’ve been doing lately. That day I happily stepped out with my old love for a trip to Lowe’s, Home Depot, True Value, Starbucks, Jamba Juice and possibly the grocery store… twice…to name a few-it was a busy day. I was feeling great, thinking to myself, this is awesome and I totally look the part…what part was I playing exactly when I flashed everyone a quick look at my Victoria Secret (not so cute cotton kind) underwear with the word “Angel” in gold. I was none the wiser until I got home that night and took the pants off to discover the gaping hole. How did I not notice?! This was unfortunate for a few reasons, the first being that I really wanted to wear those jeans for the Fashion Informant and the obvious flashing my butt to the world was a bit of a downer too. Double whammy! In my adult age, I was able to blow this off for the most part but the mere thought that everyone owns a camera phone still haunts me a little. I just hope that by me walking through my day completely oblivious to this fashion faux pas, maybe I provided a laugh or two. Lets be honest, had someone told me, I would have been even more embarrassed.
Long story short, I invested in a new pair that you are seeing today. I wouldn’t even really call it an investment because they are from Target. Normally Target jeans don’t always fit that well on me but I was pleasantly surprised with these jeans and most importantly they have a lot of holes, none of which are on the bottom.
