I believe I posted the preview.

I’ve always loved Winnie the Pooh books and movies. He’s such a timeless character and might I add, he has some pretty awesome quotes to live by. Our mom to be for the third time has two precious little boys already who LOVE books so I just kept coming back to this theme but wanted a vintage flair.

I love red velvet cake and I love macarons so these were a must have for the party since they are also that classic red Winnie the Pooh t-shirt color. Only, I forgot to put them out on Shower day….seriously.

Diaper cakes are a must have for any shower that I’m hosting. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy just throw a bag of diapers together in two or three tiers add a diaper cloth and bib with a few other useful baby accessories and voila!

Super simple brunch with a few fantastic ladies.

OMG…these were the CUTEST cupcakes ever! My friend Carol used almond slivers and jelly beans for the bee’s and that wasn’t even the best part. The icing recipe she came up with was to die for.
Winnie the Pooh
Basket the girls and I threw together. Good thing for the stocking stuffer isle at Target. They just happened to have all of the Winnie the Pooh clip on Characters for strollers and carseats…SCORE! Did I mention the diapers used in the diaper cake were also Huggies with the Winnie the Pooh characters?

I hate to say this, but there is always that one project that doesn’t get finished when planning events. Sadly the framed bee’s were that detail that was completely neglected in this particular project. It was in the plans to add one of those famous Winnie the Pooh sayings to the frames for mom and baby….it never happened:( Every. Single. Time. Best intentions though.
baby love
I’ve saved the best for last. Remember Fancy Flamingo? I’ve purchased cute banners from her before and she was kind enough to come up with a custom design for this shower. I couldn’t have been more happy. It’s something we used for the party and were able to pass on to mom for her adorable baby boys nursery.

Here is a little preview of a small  Winnie the Pooh themed baby shower that I’ve been planning with two co-conspirators. They are in charge of the menu since that is not my strong suit.

The mommy is a lover of all books and this was the first theme that came to mind since…what kid doesn’t love the stories of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin. The shower will include a few of those famous Winnie the Pooh quotes along with a few classic books that she can read to her precious little boys for years to come.  Check back in a few days to see the party in action.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2011/01/breakfast-at-tiffanys.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=breakfast-at-tiffanys https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2011/01/breakfast-at-tiffanys.html#comments Wed, 19 Jan 2011 02:15:00 +0000 Sherry https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2011/01/breakfast-at-tiffanys.html

We threw our friend Tiffany a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s Bachelorette Party”. After searching and searching we kept coming up with the same types of themes. Mostly Fuchsia with Zebra print and though that is cute we were shooting for something a little different.

My friend found the mixture for a perfect Tiffany’s blue cocktail AND they were good. Sometimes I focus so hard on making the food and drink fit the theme that I forget the fact that it should taste good as well….that’s why I’m not a caterer.

Here was our Wishing Tree for the Bride-to-be. Living in Hawaii it is always tough to find specific supplies. I wanted Tiffany’s Blue paper for the cards for us to write our well wishes to the bride on but was unable to find. So as I’m doing my weekly shopping at Target (where else?) I found a gift bag that was perfect. I used black paper for the frame and cut up the gift bag for our main color. Sometimes you just have to compromise. We found these great boxes at Ross that had the Tiffany’s theme on them. Jewels were scattered all over the tables.

Love Birds Baby Shower https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2010/09/love-birds-baby-shower.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=love-birds-baby-shower https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2010/09/love-birds-baby-shower.html#comments Tue, 21 Sep 2010 05:31:00 +0000 Sherry https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2010/09/love-birds-baby-shower.html
It was a busy year for baby arrivals in our little circle of friends. Nicole gave birth to two beautiful (premature) twin girls. Her resilience was absolutely inspiring to watch. Given the fact that she was in the hospital for 4 weeks and once the twins were born, spent countless hours traveling back and forth to see her girls we thought it was best to wait to throw her a baby shower after the chaos settled a bit. So here it is!Group picture of all the ladies!

We decided to make a wishing tree for the girls, it seemed appropriate since we all were on pins and needles throughout her entire pregnancy. The pink cards for Charlotte and the lavender for Madison.

I found the burp clothes from an Etsy Store called Icing On The Cupcake https://www.etsy.com/people/IcingOnTheCupcake. The quality was fantastic and the colors worked perfectly for the theme. If you get a chance check out her store.

The guest of honor is a huge fan of breakfast food.

Jen made the cutest bird houses using the theme paper we found at Stampin Up. The houses were found at Michael’s. I was able to find the small nests with birds through Etsy. Jen also, made the table runner the fabric was another Etsy purchase from a store called My Heart and Sew https://www.etsy.com/people/MyHeartandSew?ref=ls_profile.

The Planners

Jen did a fantastic job of making these adorable wishing tree cards.

The wishing tree.

We used the Stampin Up paper for most everything. Wrap for the water, the welcome banner above and the rooftops for the bird houses.

Every crafty girl needs a Cricut! I threw a banner together in minutes.

Cookie favors were made by Hokulani Bake Shop. Delicious!! Jen found the graphics on Etsy and used the theme that was on the tags for the paper invitations and the Evite invitation. She backed them with the Stampin Up paper that was used for the party.

It took awhile to get this cake right….it’s not quite there in these pictures.  It’s the topper…wasn’t big enough.

I used Bright Starts as usual for the rattles and infant toys.  The two side birds were luggage tags found at Target.

Here is the diaper cake I made for a friends elephant themed baby shower. As usual, I used one package of size 1 Pampers diapers, you can really use any brand of diapers but I prefer pampers because they only have their logo pictures on the waistline of their diapers. This makes it much easier to hide as you are preparing the cake. The elephant toys were purchased at target by Bright Start. I’ve used this brand a few times because they are flexible and easy to work with. I did have to make some modifications for the crinkle elephant shown at the bottom.

These cute buttons were found on Etsy.

One bag of childrens blocks Has managed to assist me through four projects. Well worth the money spent.

Peter Rabbit Diaper Cake https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2009/11/peter-rabbit-diaper-cake.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=peter-rabbit-diaper-cake https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2009/11/peter-rabbit-diaper-cake.html#comments Mon, 23 Nov 2009 02:24:00 +0000 Sherry https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2009/11/peter-rabbit-diaper-cake.html

Making Diaper Cakes for showers is so much fun. It is such a personal touch and the best thing is that mommy can use absolutely everything that the cake is made of. You don’t even have to wrap it. As I’ve said before as much as I love planning parties, wrapping is my least favorite thing to do.

This particular cake was a collaborative shopping effort by a friend and myself. It consists of one pack of Pampers size 1. Bibs ordered on Etsy that came with 2-bibs; 3-burp clothes. Also purchased from Etsy were the buttons used in the center of the ribbon. The ribbon was purchased through Ben Franklin and Stampin’ Up. The hostess of the party was able to find Peter Rabbit through Barnes and Noble. One pack of pacifiers.

Because I had a few items left over after the cake was completed I was able to make this bunny in a basket with the Burt’s Bee’s Shampoo and Conditioner along with the larger Peter Rabbit stuffed animal.

To view party day click here.

  • To create the diaper cake I use 1 pkg of Pampers diapers and roll each diaper and secured with a rubber band.
  • I then carefully arrange my first layer (You can make this as big or small as you would like). I secure the first layer with a piece of string.
  • Same for the second layer making it a little smaller than the first and onto the top layer being the smallest
  • To cover the unsightly string I then put three different colored ribbons that matched the color of the burp clothes and bibs. Adding the bib over the ribbon and then I tied a yellow ribbon to keep the bib in place.
  • The second layer I again used theree ribbons. I actually hot glued the ribbon together since it provided a little more security. Then made two separate tied ribbons and added a Peter Rabbit Button to give it more detail since this layer didn’t have a burp cloth or bib.
  • For the last layer I used one ribbon and again used the glue gun to secure it. Laid the bib over the top and tied with another ribbon. I also add two tied ribbons to the side to give it more detail and then topped the cake with Peter Rabbit.
