How to Dress Up a Muscle Tee

I’m not sure if it’s the heat we’re experiencing at the moment or what exactly but wardrobe staples like the muscle tee have been a mainstay in my life. They are not only light but also  loose fitting and so easy to dress up!

  1. This first look is what has been happening a whole lot in my world lately. The classic cut-off denim shorts along with my Birkenstocks (that I can’t stop talking about). Keeping the jewelry simple with some personalized pieces that are also great for layering with longer necklaces.
  2. I love the unexpected when it comes to fashion so look at what a wow factor a pair of leopard pumps can do for a look. Add a fabulous layered necklace like this Stella and Dot Aria pendant necklace and a pair of boyfriend jeans. Warm it up with a black blazer.
  3. Effortless chic with a pair of white skinnies and a classic nude pump. Add the Sutton statement necklace to complete the look. This necklace can be worn several different ways all of which would work perfect with this look.
  4. Glam it up with a pair of faux leather black pants and again a statement necklace that will really attract some attention. The Pegasus Necklace available at Stella and Dot is one of my favorites right now.

The muscle tee is one of those tops that can transition through all of the seasons by just adding few elements to the look. Like for instance a denim jacket or blazer and throw on your favorite booties or riding boots. These simple additions will effortlessly take this look through the winter months. So go a head, stock up!

One Outfit: Day to Night

The maxi skirt is one of the easiest pieces to take from day to night by just changing a few elements of your look. Our first look is perfect for a day of shopping and lunch with the girls. Wearing a simple pair of flip flops and a fashionable tote finishing the look with a fabulous necklace with a pop of color.  Switch it up for the evening by simply changing those accessories and adding a d’orsay flat and you are ready to go out for an evening with the significant other in your life!

What are some of your favorite transition wardrobe staples?

What to Wear: Summer Color https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2014/05/wear-summer-color.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=wear-summer-color https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2014/05/wear-summer-color.html#comments Wed, 28 May 2014 21:15:27 +0000 Sherry https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/?p=5635
Summer Color

Summer is upon us friends! This year I thought I’d change up a few things in my wardrobe for those oh so casual days. Like a few baseball tees for instance. They’ve made a comeback and the lovely crystal embellished detail on this J.Crew tee  adds a little femininity to this casual look. Flip flops have been my summer mainstay for years but I’m stepping outside of that comfort zone with the D’orsay flat which is a versatile choice since it can easily be switched up for both casual and dressy looks. Given the fact that you’ve got a baseball tee worn with a pair of denim shorts, fancy flats and fabulous fuchsia bag for a pop of color this is the perfect marriage for dressy casual.

What are some of your favorite summer ensembles?

What to Wear: Chambray & Stripes https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2014/04/wear-chambray-stripes.html?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=wear-chambray-stripes https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/2014/04/wear-chambray-stripes.html#comments Wed, 09 Apr 2014 04:00:40 +0000 Sherry https://www.thelifeofthepartyblog.com/?p=4995
Chambray and Stripes

Clearly I’m drawn to Chambray this Spring! I can’t get enough of this fuchsia either! Lets talk mixing patterns….two of my favorites are stripes and leopard. Love that it is so unexpected but for some reason it just works.

Step Into Spring

Loving these Spring days as much as I am? Well, maybe not if you’re living in an area that was just hit with yet another snow storm. It has been one crazy weather year! Even in Hawaii we’ve had some unusual days. But we are definitely in full swing to spring over here…not much changes from season to season but there is a subtle difference.

Thought I’d throw together a quick outfit that is perfect for a Spring day with a long sleeve top from J.Crew. What I really loved about this top is the eyecatching tile Indigo pattern. This top alone adds so much interest and dimension. To keep it on the casual side I chose a pair of cut off denim shorts but this top would also look fabulous with a pair of white linen pants, white jeans or even a capri. I finished the look with a Tory Burch bag and sandals. I realize Tory Burch is a bit on the spendy side but I look at them as investment pieces. When choosing a neutral color I feel like you can spend a little extra money because it is something that will be in your wardrobe for years to come. I tend to use a lighter color neutral bag throughout the summer months. The shoes are also an investment. For myself, living in Hawaii the sandals will get a workout. Finally I topped this look with a hat and a great pair of sunnies.

Spring Style

Chambray is going to continue to grace many closets this season. This is a wardrobe staple that is so incredibly versatile it is truly worth the investment. For this particular look I’ve styled it with a fun and flirty J.Crew long polka dot skirt and added a fun pop of color in a pair of pointed toe yellow pumps. To complement those shoes I completed the look with a pair of yellow gem earrings.

Not sure what to wear with Chambray? Well aside from this spring ready ensemble, check out these Five Ways to Wear Chambray on my Polyvore page.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

One of my favorite colors to pair with leopard print is emerald green and what better time to pair these two together than to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! As far as mixing patterns another safe combination is black and white stripes with leopard. I’ve added a large statement necklace that will pull from the color in the heels bringing this outfit together. To finish the look I added a great Michael Kors bag in green!

Do you have a go-to outfit for St. Patrick’s Day?

She can pull off the perfect casual look like no other. Since I can’t say for sure what she is wearing here is my replicated version.

I found a few options for the sweater, tank and jeans but these seemed to fit the look best. Check out these boots, so cute and so inexpensive and of course what look would be complete without a Michael Kors bag.

Carrie Underwood has grabbed my attention several times; not only for her musical talent but her style.

Let’s talk about what she wore.  I love this casual look and the fact that it’s so thrown together is what I like most about it.  Well since I can’t ask her what she wore, I’ll give you my version.

I purchased this tank from Target which was actually the inspiration for this post.  Let me just tell you, it’s one of my favorite tanks this year.  So comfortable and it was cheap-under $15!

Gray and White

Are those jelly shoes??  Why yes they are.  I loved jelly shoes as a kid, didn’t you?  After seeing this I may just have to go get me a pair.   The Marc Jacobs sunglasses can easily be switched up with something a little less expensive, take your pick, aviators are everywhere right now.

Here are a couple inexpensive options.

Option 2

So there you have it!  My version of an easily thrown together Carrie Underwood airport look.  Hope all of you are having a Happy Wednesday!

.

My Sweet Home Alabama shawl is on it’s way!!!  I can’t even tell you how excited I am to see it.  This has been on my wishlist for years.  I originally purchased the pattern from Stella’s Knits on Etsy and eventually decided that I didn’t have enough hours in the day to complete it.  So luckily I was able to purchase it through her Etsy store.  Wow!!  Fast!!  She had it completed within days of my request.  Had I done this myself it most likely would have taken me all year….or longer.   I’ve mentioned before that this coming Christmas will be my first snow white Christmas in about 14 year so naturally I have to prepare myself.  I’ll be posting lot’s of winter outfits until then.  This dress is obviously not very wintering but it does resemble the outfit Reese Witherspoon wore in the movie.

Speaking of Sweet Home Alabama.  Do you all remember this movie?  Hilarious!!  I was a little irritated with the obvious errors in the script; such as, before leaving NYC, Melanie says that Christmas is still  four months away!!  Then surprise it’s fall in Alabama or the fact that no one in Alabama knew that Melanie had changed her name to Carmicheal, yet they read about her successful career.  Then there was the gravestone that moved.  Oh well, details!  Whatever, I still think that it was a great love story and comedy…dramady, if you will.  That drunk bar scene was the BEST!! Who has been there?  I’d love to know.
