Monday Makeup: Facial Cleansers

Estée Lauder / Estée Lauder / Neutrogena face cleanser / Clinique

Imagine my surprise when I approached the Estee Lauder counter to find that the same facial cleanser I’ve been using for the last ten years has been discontinued. I’m a creature of habit friends. I’ve only recently changed my makeup and that has been a challenge.  I wasn’t even contemplating the idea of parting with Sparkling Clean.

The Estee Lauder lady assured me that its replacement is amazing and I’m going to love it…..only I don’t….I don’t love it….at all.  It smells like this Suave shampoo my mom used to buy when I was a kid. So aside from the not so great smell there are a few more flaws that I don’t understand. It has this tiny hole to squeeze the soap out of. What? Maybe the idea is to use less…I don’t know where Estee Lauder was going with that. I can’t begin to understand because I don’t like to get hand cramps just trying to get enough soap out to wash my face.

So now that I’ve vented, I’ll tell you what I am using at the moment that may not be the ideal replacement but I was pleasantly surprised since I tend to avoid drugstore brands when it comes to facial cleansers. This Neutrogena Deep Clean not only smells fresh and clean it leaves your face feeling fresh and clean.  Bonus, it’s cheap!  I haven’t used it for an extended period of time so I’m not sure that it will aide in repairing fine lines and wrinkles but we’ll see. If I don’t feel that it’s doing the trick I’ll go back to the old Clinique bar  that was my facial soap of choice before Estee Lauder Sparkling Clean. It doesn’t have a distinctive smell and it leaves your face feeling clean. Long term I know that it gets the job done.

Do you have any favorite skin care products you can’t live without? If so, share, share, share…I’d love to try something new. Or have you dealt with a discontinued product you love causing you distress? Tell us about it!
