There has been a bit of an absence here on the blog for good reason. I promise. I mentioned that Polyvore flew 12 members, one of them being myself to NYC for an amazing meetup with both Polyvore and Farfetch. There was a lot going on, on the home front (remember the flood?) before I left so I didn’t have the opportunity to research in depth what was on the itinerary. So imagine my surprise when my “driver” (seriously, Polyvore rolled out the red carpet for us!) pulled up to this amazing luxury hotel in Soho.

Upon checking in at the Soho Grand Hotel, I was greeted with a fabulous welcome bag full of wonderful treats from Polyvore. I can’t even decide what my favorite item in the bag was but the impressively soft Polyvore tee was probably top on the list and then a delicious cookie from Dean & Deluca that seriously hit the spot after being up all night on that incredibly long (but SO worth it) journey from Honolulu to New York City. Did I mention I ALWAYS wanted to go to Dean & Deluca, I’ll admit it was because I watched every episode of Felicity. But still, knock that one right off the bucket list, it was everything I imagined and more.

My Instagram recaps. Are you following by the way?

The Soho Grand Hotel is located in the heart of Soho and is famous for being Manhattan’s first luxury downtown boutique hotel. Did we see famous people during our stay?? Yes, we sure did! MANY! One of my absolute favorites in the way of fashion.  What Not to Wears,  Stacy London. Living in Hawaii I’ve conditioned myself to control being Starstruck, so no tears and OMG’s out loud. Whew, good thing for her!  I also shared the elevator with a famous news anchor. I acted like I had no idea who he was and just continued on with the small talk…..because let me be honest, I couldn’t really remember which network he was with. I should probably watch the news more often.

The architecture was truly magnificent and would you take a look at that staircase?!  From the artwork, grand staircase to all of the vintage light fixtures it was truly a sight to see. After a fun day of touring Edon Manor and Kirna Zabete a few girls and I sat in the  lounge shown in the last photo and talked about all things creative until nearly 1am. It was so refreshing to spend time with people that truly have the same interests  as myself and who are so beyond talented there are no words. It was the perfect place to kick back and share stories and experiences in our creative worlds that we are all so passionate about.

The hotel is the center of all things trendy and the perfect place to stay to really take in all Soho has to offer. The service I received at the Soho Grand Hotel was outstanding from the moment I stepped onto the side walk into the hotel and throughout my entire stay.  I’m so incredibly grateful to Polyvore for making this such an amazing experience. Be sure to check back next week for more about this fantastic trip!

New York City Baby!!

Polyvore NYC Meetup

I thought long and hard before making this announcement and really wasn’t sure if I wanted to say anything until I was actually on a plane to NYC. There was a bit of denial that it was actually REALLY going to happen.  Truthfully, I still can’t believe they chose me! I told a handful of people that have been supportive of this journey of blogging about Fashion and Interior Design.  I have an amazing family and great friends but let me be honest….not all of them care much about fashion… period. It was hard to put into words what this trip means to me. I couldn’t beg a few people I was closest to, to follow my blog when I first began, why would anyone else take notice. But someone did, and that someone was Polyvore and their amazing community.

As I’m sure you’ve come to realize, I use Polyvore as a tool for the majority of the content that I write about here on The Life the Party. It would truly be a sinking ship without it. If you haven’t already signed up, do it! You won’t be disappointed. Don’t worry about impressing others, just start creating things that you love and that are your personal style. It’s a wonderful creative release!

I’m so honored that anyone ever noticed I had a glimmer of talent and shocked at the same time.  About two years ago, I created my first set. About a month later I received a Top Set from Polyvore. I was ecstatic! However, I would’ve been pretty happy with that accomplishment alone so I continued on without any great expectations. I just kept doing what I loved to do!  There are no words for the way I feel about the incredible support from the Polyvore team and  this fantastic community as well as people outside the community, it is surreal. This is a life time dream to be doing what I’m doing at this moment and a good reminder to all of you that if there is something you really love, it is NEVER too late for a career change.  Follow your dreams, life is too short! I know we hear it all the time and it sounds corney and cliche but all we have is time, why not spend it doing what we truly love to do.

So the denial is gone and I’ve realized this really is happening….in three days. Polyvore has set up an amazing trip to New York City for 11 fabulously talented Polyvore Members and myself. We will be taking an inside look at Polyvore as a company as well as Farfetch, a fabulous store filled with the most prominent names in fashion. Pinch me! Seriously, pinch me!!! I’ll be giving you all a blow by blow of the entire trip. But in the meantime here is a look at one of the ensembles I’ll be wearing. The dress is my first DVF and I love, love, love!

Thank you all so much for your support throughout the last few years! It’s been amazing getting to know all of you fashionable ladies through the Fashion Informant. I promise it will be back and better than ever in just a few weeks. Just hang  with me.
