Casual Spring Floral

Casual Spring Floral

Here is my last push for spring time apparel! Starting next week it is all about summer friends! Last night I went on a quick shopping trip with a friend and all of our five kids under the age of eight….I know…just say it…we are insane! But we survived and enjoyed it even if we only had a few short moments of sanity the entire time.

On the few places we stopped J.Crew was one. I really love the Cove Floral pattern lately, I think it is fabulous for spring but it’s also a great pattern that will take you into the summer months as well.  J.Crew just has that ability to find one great pattern and throw it onto five (or more) pieces; skirt, shorts, shirts, tanks and the list goes on. It usually comes down to…I can’t decide which one I want and I can’t afford them all so ultimately I’ll take the cheaper of all the above.

For this set I’ve paired the Cove Floral with a pair of American Eagle high-rise jeans and a Tory Burch wedge and dome satchel. Since the floral already makes a statement I kept the accessories simple and minimal.

Step into Spring

Step into Spring

Really we are about to be stepping into summer and I can’t wait but in the meantime I’ve come up with another spring ready casual ensemble dressed up with a statement necklace and Tory Burch bag.

Casual Style

Lately I’ve been sticking with those versatile go to t-shirts for the base to most of my outfits because a simple top can go a long way for creating multiple looks. The stripe tee that is getting a big workout in my closet is the J.Crew Factory Bateau top (good news, it is on sale 30% off right now!). I love that it can be worn with a pair of Chuck Taylor’s or  a pair of nude pumps….all in the same day. Those are the ensembles I gravitate towards because let’s face it, life is chaotically crazy some days and there are times that we do have to change more than once to fit what our day has in store. Or at least that’s how it works in my world right now so why not choose an outfit that can easily be converted from casual to dressy with the right accessories.

Stripes and Floral

Stripes and Floral

This week on the Fashion Informant I wore the J.Crew Factory stripe drape top; I really thought I would have endless outfit possibilities with this top and it turns out I was not coming up with anything I really loved. So I had to dig deep to come up with a few outfit options so that this top gets a work out. I do love leopard and stripes and that was my first thought but it just wasn’t working in my opinion. I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and experiment more with stripes and floral since it is a pattern combination that I am drawn to lately. Here is what I came up with.

Much like last weeks Fashion Informant this outfit is very basic worn with a pair of jeans but I decided to add the pattern in the Ted Baker floral shoes….which are on their way right now. Not a decision I made lightly either. Let’s hope the floral trend sticks around for a few years at least.

Here are a three more options to try.

Skirt and Stripes

  • The first outfit would be suitable for the office with the floral pencil skirt. You could also add a blazer to make it look a bit more on the professional side.
  • Faux skater skirt and added edge in a pair of leopard print pumps, great for a night out on the town.
  • Bold floral print skirt and earrings to match will bring this bright ensemble together.
